About Holistic Herb Power

Holistic Herb Power is my blog and is a space built for the plant-curious, the slow-living seekers, and anyone ready to build a deeper connection with nature and themselves, or for someone who likes reading blogs. I believe in the gentle strength of herbal healing and the process of learning how to care for your body with plants. I am a novice at this and as such will have questions, considerations, and may even ask for advice. I’ll be going through my herbal journal at first to create articles about what I’ve learned so far. It’s not very much but I hope it’ll still be enjoyable to read. It’ll mainly focus on my growth and some basic education about plants and concepts I think any beginner should know.

Mission

I’m here to spread the new information I come upon and the experiences I have during this journey. It may be boring at times but I feel it’s important to just share and write what I know and am learning everyday. I’m really hoping for some engagement where I’ll get feedback from others and learn more in this subject in the process. If it’s not about learning, why do this in the first place?

Meet the Writer

Hi, I’m J.D. Olivarez , a novice herbalist (if you can even call me that) and the writer behind Holistic Herb Power. I am also a volunteer at the Internet Archive, where I am doing cataloging and maintenance of the catalog. I was a metadata librarian at an academic library, where I worked on creating BIBCO and CONSER records for OCLC. I also dabble in music creation and performance (not recently though), in zines about things I find interesting, and I am a digital creator passionate about who decides and how we organize knowledge (YouTube stuff).

What You’ll Find Here

  • Beginner-friendly guides to working with herbs
  • Herb profiles and traditional uses
  • DIY recipes for teas, salves, oils, and more
  • Thoughtful reflections on holistic, intentional living

I hope people more knowledgeable than me can really help me here and answer questions I have along the way. So come and join me on this journey and hopefully, it’ll be enjoyable for everyone who stops by.
